Self Portrait Reflecting Me
In my self portrait collage, it sort seems like a lot is happening. As you can see, there is a photo of me (Promise), a dog, and another photo in the background. But each of these layers means something different. I’ll start with my selfie. I personally hate taking selfies, but this was part of an assignment so I had no choice. It’s not as bad as I thought, but still.
The second layer is a photo of my dog, Lady. I used this photo because my dog is something that’s a big part of my life as well as my families. In Photoshop, a tool that really helped with putting this image together is the erase tool. Without it, my collage wouldn’t have looked the way it is.
My third layer is a photo of someone and I when I went to camp. I used this photo because camp is big part of my life, and it always has been. I would’ve used a photo of the lake, but I couldn’t get one. Another effect I used in photoshop was the opacity tool, which was a huge help with all three photos.
The message I am trying to convey in my collage is that we aren’t just made up of one thing. We’re also made up of the things that we love. I think that we’re more than just a body, and that we all have things that describe us (of course) and make us happy. When I started this project, I was concerned about finding the objects. But then I sat down and I thought about everything that I enjoy and that means something to me. The point of my self portrait collage was to show more of me, besides just my face.
